There's something symphatetic about the archery range, but I don't like your low ceiling wide stockpile halls. It's crafting in progress I know, but still... quickfort has been invented.

Edit: some spelling and addition

The important parts, quarters and work places are magnificently designed. Like how the dining hall is constructed in two layers and the quarters are in symmetric patterns. Their small size can be compensated by crafting gem encrusted furniture like beds and cabinets.

I used to go for builds like this. But I couldn't fight against goblins, spiders, whatever. Now I can and don't have to savescum a lot, makes things go smooth and nice with fortresses. Chickens are great!

I used to be an ascii player too. Then I tried a few graphic sets inspired by first ultragear and dorten's fortresses, then I created Cloisterpillars

I'm motivated by the upcoming DF2014 patch to try different things and possibly explore DF2012 mods that will be incompatible with the new version. In this process I discovered DFhack, the new Dwarf Therapist and lots of other utilities, and great music.

Wow, i like the magma metalsmithing. The lava channel is real nice. Also it's nice to see how you stock refuse outside the fortress side.n Other things worth mentioning is the food production line and the central lobby, that makes the fortress breathe.

The bridge... yeah, I worried about that too. Tried to make a bridge there. Then ended up doing what you see in the new map.

Thanks, tbh I had no idea how much I would have to mine stone to get it all roofed up and floored... Turns out a lot. I'm happy that there's plenty of iron ore though, so much that I'm making "windows" of it. The town is called "Mountain of Immortality", it just somehow became "Immortal". The idea is to mine out the sides so that the town seems to be lying on an artificial mountain or at least above dreadful pits in flat lands.

Worthy of an ocean!
So you're using an aquifer to provide water.

Oh but you don't have caverns?

If you survived your tantrum spiral maybe you could take the risk of breaching to cavern layers? You could get some nice soft fungus beds.
