View / ReplySubmitted by: Salmeuk - 2016-02-01read year 107, that's not a mechanic but my legendary Siege Engineer. Well, he was only legendary for about a week before deciding to haul one particularly important alunite boulder, and through a rather dwarvenly set of events found himself with a pair of broken legs at the bottom of a 4 z-level waterfall with no way out (the exit staircase you see was hastily designated but wasn't finished before he drowned). |

View / ReplySubmitted by: Salmeuk - 2015-12-29wait holy hell that dwarven city is amazing! I want to recreate it, but with more open space around the individual houses. . . hold on BRB |

View / ReplySubmitted by: Salmeuk - 2015-12-29Frankly, I just imagine dwarfs like let corpses 'season' a little before getting down to stuffing them inside a casket. Something about "appreciating death and decay" or some such nonsense. |

Just putting water wheels in a row and shooting water under them doesn't work very well if they're not on a river. If the water's too high it won't turn, too low and it won't turn, not enough or too much turbulence and it won't turn. Diagnol flow is used as pressure control, restrictions and long channels affect the rate, and an output channel above abruptly lowers the water to help it power the topmost pair of wheels.
The floodgates fly open whenever power is disengaged to drain it as rapidly as possible. -
