Large sections of cavern have been dug out to contain the dwarven bedrooms. As gold veins run rampant throughout other parts of the fortress, it was no surprise to find them all over the bedroom areas.
The bottom bedrooms are currently being dug, and are meant to contain the vast majority of dwarves without rooms in the fortress still. Once they're made, the more noble/valued dwarves who live in these areas will be moved into manors in the deep caverns, with furniture crafted out of gold. -
