Point of Interest: First Tomb

The earliest known tomb at Portalfaithful was dedicated shortly after the Dark Elvish attack near the end of 103.

Evidence suggests that the tomb actually began as a monument/statue garden in order to raise the moral of the fort, and was hastily rededicated after the fort suffered it's first casualty. - Razin

I like the tower cap farm, it has a very cave like feel to it

Δ First Tomb
The earliest known tomb at Portalfaithful was dedicated shortly after the Dark Elvish attack near the end of 103.

Δ First Blood
Sometime in 103-early 104, the Portalfaithful saw it's first conflict. Evidence suggests that both Goblin and Dark Elf (using the latest Dig Deeper for this fort) ambushers raided the young fort.

The Elvish ambush killed the settlement's administrator / record-keeper and wounded on of the fort's poorly equipped fighters. He would be laid up for at least a year and a half.

The Goblin ambush, which came later, did not inflict any direct losses on the settlement, but did succeed in driving off the lightly guarded trade caravan that was entering the fort at the time. - Razin
Δ First Housing
Construction of apartment style housing was completed in the Spring of 104, emulating the housing style of larger dwarven cities. The fort's leadership probably wanted to solve overcrowding problems in the barracks and provide some comfort to it's residents once the fort drew the attention of the region's raiders. - Razin
Δ Search for Water
Surface water was never plentiful in on this region of the world, a volcanic mountain situated between a desert to the south and a dry Savannah to the north. The small pools that were present were nearly dry thanks to natural evaporation, and the fort's wounder warrior was quickly drinking what remained.

Knowing that an underground river ran through this mountain (other dwarven fortresses had tapped it further downriver), the miners hoped to find it before their comrade died of thirst. - Razin
