Yup. I'm holding off on more elaborate shenanigans until I've finished the megaproject. Which could be awhile, given that I'm (trying to) limit my dwarf count.

Δ Initial (Lame) Defenses, Mark II
In order to better force ambushers to wade through my defenses, the original stonefall traps have been scrapped in favor of this gatehouse arrangement. My intent here is to have a covered (and heavily trapped) approach to the trade depot, weeding out everything besides kobolds. This also allows me to keep the bridge down year-round, the better to instigate Goblin Christmas.
The wiki gave me the impression that moving the animal cage between the stairs and the door would force kobolds to break stealth and flee. This is sadly not the case, as I found out in Autumn 146. Fortunately, as the thing was fleeing it ran directly into a caravan guard who was crossing the bridge (who was guarding one of those weird "I move eleven tiles a game-day, this is ridiculous, it's not even funny" wagons). The cage was subsequently moved back and replaced with a dog on a chain. And by "chain" I mean "midnight blue cave spider silk rope that shows up as green when it's built." Classy. =P - Sigma

Δ The Boneyard
The furniture output of this mason's shop left a good amount of clear space around it, which I'm currently using to store assorted fish, kobold, and goblin bones. It's getting to the point where I've designated an overflow stockpile on the floor below. - Sigma
Δ The Smooth & Dump Project, Finished
The end result, now conveniently used for overflow bone, wood, and food storage. This also gives me a better sense of what the finished Citadel will (hopefully) look like: this, but in clear-glass blue. And partially aboveground. And with a lava moat. =D - Sigma
