Things are progressing fairly smoothly. Only thing that didn't go as it should is moods; first up it was a metalsmith, he has died now, and the second mood that hit hit a... blacksmith. Now, he requests metal bars; kinda hard to come by since he's taken over the forge. Not to mention, the mood hit just a bit after the dwarven caravan left.
On a brighter a brighter note, the first few kobolds were killed by the same miner, which gave him a title.

You can download the compressed map file:

but you will need the .NET version of

If your map is slow starting out, it will only get slower as you play - slower and slower, until you quit in disgust.
I've learnt this the *hard* way. Consider a much more modest map and init.txt settings.

I know of how large maps are hugely affected the more you play, FPS wise. I too learned so the hard way, but fortunately, it was while I was still new to the game.
However, I seem to have fixed this, mostly, by switching to full screen; with full screen, I got 90+ FPS, which later dropped to a modest 40+-50+ when I dug deeper (which may or may not have to do with me digging or not, though I do think it's probably due to all the stone).
I'll probably disable some things though, weather for sure, and temperature, at least until I hit magma.
