Apepaints - 206 Early Autumn by YF-23

Map Description:

Major updates since the last map:
Baroness,Baron Consort,Tax Collector, and Hammerer nobles arrived.
I've fended off 2 Goblin Sieges and completed a defence tunnel which should ward almost everything off.
I've dug out most of the bottom level. No magma, so I'll have to do with the regular smelters and metalsmith workshops.

Point of Interest: Defense Tunnel

This spans several z-levels. The one here is on the same level as the river water, and I've built two flooding chambers, the second one acting as a failsafe in case anyone manages to pass through before I close the doors and hatches. This has potential to flood my fort, so I'll need to be careful (and probably build another floodgate on a lower level which I'll have open most of the time).
The other floors mainly contain traps.

Once the bridge on the entrance to my fort is raised, the invading force tries to find another part to my dorfs. If there's none, they simply stay were they are (which happened during the first siege, and I had to lower the bridge again). So with this, when the bridge is raised, the invading force DOES find a way to my fortress... A painful one. - YF-23

Neat area for a fort.

Yeah, the river itself forms a natural defence on more than a fourth of the map's borders, and from there on out I can easily control access with bridges. It's also easy to close off areas almost completelly, and the mid-eastern part of land makes it easy to make a chokepoint. Many goblins have died at the traps there (the first siege and a wave of the second siege so far). Oh, and some rhesus macaques too.

I will probably abuse the small waterfall as well, and make the King's Throne room behind it. That is, if I survive until then.

Lay down some floors on the surface of your fort. It makes it look nicer.

Hmm, I was thinking like that, but I'd rather keep it in a gardenish state so I can have a safe woodproducing area. See, if a siege happens, I want my dwarves to get inside the wall ASAP so I can pull the main entrance lever.

Hmm, I might put some floor on the area around the trade depot though- scratch the might, will do right now.
