My first fortress, with it's convoluted ad-hoc building style.

Point of Interest: Tree Farms
About 10000 tiles of tree farm across 4 levels, all of the wood for the bins and barrels of those stockpiles has to come from somewhere. :) - Soralin

What an incredibly messy fort.
Awesome, but messy.

Wow, that place is nuts!
It's messier than Hull on a friday night.

Hehe, like that trail of vomit you got going on at your trade depot.

Good lord that's a mess! Those stockpiles are gargantuan.... and was the flooding of the lower levels deliberate? :)

Some of it is deliberate, level 5 is the route for my flooding trap, where I can open hatches around the map and unleash a lethal flood from my huge central water tower. (You can see the aftermath of my fist successful test with the huge muddy patch in the southwest). The level below that is the feed into the pump tower for the water tower, from both the underground river and the brook. Then there's the lake/waterfall, and the filling room and feeds for the tree farms. Any other water around, like on the axle/mechanics levels, isn't deliberate. :)

holly kablamos, this fort is sick (in a good way... and in a sick way :) )

The 19x19x13 water tower in a side view, with the pump tower visible, was well as it's source, and the level where the water tower feeds down into.
- Soralin
A giant water tower with 19x19x13 space on the inside, starting 3 floors above the ground. It feeds down into a series of tunnels, which come back up again into hatched tunnels around the map. It's filled by the pump tower on the right, which gets it's source from both the brook and the underground river.
- Soralin
The main walls are double thick, and have a fortification on the upper level, and a ramp all around the inside, allowing anyone to quickly climb up and fire down on enemy forces, while protecting anyone on ground level. All of the smaller entrances are air-lock door style, with a pair of traps and a chained tame cave crocodile guarding them, inner doors can be locked if an ambush comes in the outer door and is seen.
- Soralin
The muddy area is the result of the first successful test of my flooding trap, resulting in the watery deaths of most of 2 squads of goblins, a fisherdwarf, and my fps.
- Soralin
The pressure plates here in the middle let water down on the pressure plate to the north, which opens the hatch above for water to flow down into the main chamber, when water hits the pressure plate on the northwest, it closes the floodgates on either side, leaving everything inside to drown until the trap is drained and reset via the side levers.
- Soralin
Yes, I'm a packrat. Why stop food production when you can just build bigger stockpiles? :) That thought resulted in about 40000 spare food/drink, not to mention the furniture stockpile and others.
- Soralin
An artificial lake with multiple waterfalls running down into it. Water is pulled off of the bottom floor, and poured back down from above. It can be refilled from the chambers on the right. Note that the difference between a soothing waterfall and a watery death trap can be a subtle one, as can be seen by the pile of bones on the lowest level.

The vomit finishes off the Hull effect.
