Paddlecombines - 1057 Early Spring by Mister Six

Map Description:

After the siege shown on the previous map, I turned off invaders so the dwarves would at least have a chance to go pick up all the iron shields and crap the goblins carry. And, since I assume that before the Army Arc is implemented you won't be able to stop a civilization from invading by killing them, I will probably leave it off long enough to do various construction projects I want to do.

A few months after kicking off the dwarven economy, the tax collector became very unhappy, threw a few tantrums, then finally went insane and jumped down the middle of a stairwell.

I decided I wanted to see how adamantine worked, so I revealed, exported images, then went back to pre-reveal since fully revealed maps look like crap. I also made sure to stop mining before I got to any hidden fun stuff. There's more adamantine to be had, but what's been mined already will last a while (especially given the speed DF runs at with ~180 animals and the speed of my dabbling strand extractor).

A while ago the elves sent a diplomat to ask me to not chop down any trees. I undesignated all trees that were in the queue to be chopped down, and requested wood from caravans in case I need any. Today the diplomat came back, and we hammered out an agreement for a 40 tree limit, so I guess I could have still been chopping them down this whole time. I'm going to try to not chop down any trees, since the elves have brought me some cool animals (last time, a leopard and a black bear; this time, an elk, a deer, and a number of birds and other small creatures, none of which I've seen in this area).

A charming location, clear boundaries between biomes, good luck!

Yeah, I really enjoy terrain like this. The fractal-y path the cliff face takes makes it much more interesting than flat plains or rolling hills. And boy does this have a lot of cliff faces in terms of linear feet (dwarf-units?).

Looking good, lots of detail. What are you planning to make with the adamantium?

Aside from a full kit for a future adventurer, I'm not really sure yet. My military doesn't really seem to need upgraded items, as they can take care of goblins pretty well, well enough to break sieges at least (although due to my lack of forward-thinking siege planning, it's a pain in the ass). I may do some stuff for them anyway, though; it seems the most obvious use.

A few random bits of furniture have occurred to me, such as a door for the treasury vault and a statue or two. Beyond that I'm open to suggestions.
