Star Trek : Nemesis : Star Trek:Nemesis

Before I start, I want to say that I don’t usually write movie reviews so you’ll have to bear with me; this is one of my first.

Description

Captain Picard and his excellent crew are back in yet another Star Trek film. The movie starts with a wedding between Will Riker and Diana Troy, but plans for the rest of the ceremony are cut short as Picard is presented with a mission to Romulus to discuss a peace treaty. Unbeknownst to him, the new Romulan leader, Shinzon has much more in store for not only Picard and the Enterprise, but for the entire federation.

The Review

When I returned from watching this movie, I was very satisfied. From the remarks made in the wedding, to the comical scene where Picard takes his new toy, a dune buggy, for a spin, to the most surprising encounter between the Enterprise and its greatest foe, the events were very well scripted. I also liked the parallels between Data and Picard that were repeated throughout the film to the end. One thing that was odd to me though was how Data didn’t make any references to Lore in the film when he had many openings. Other than that though, a lot of the story fit together with the TV series and the story did a great job of expanding on that as well – especially where they tied in a little from Voyager in a brief conversation between Picard and Janeway. Overall, this film should make a fine addition to the growing collection of films based on Star Trek: The next generation, and gets a rating of 8.5/10.
